The Microline S1229RS membrane and S7028 prefilter, and S7025 postfilter are a common 11 1/2" length replacement filter cartridge for reverse osmosis drinking water systems. They are interchangeable with other Microline filters and membranes for the same purpose. The installation sequence is marked on the manifold of the system for easy installation. The membranes from these models generally last for many years and do not require frequent replacement. The standard filters and membranes did not fit nor work with proprietary models, requiring the sump housing to adapt to the longer "standard" version. The filters are primarily used to remove dissolved salts and other impurities. The reviews are mixed. One customer reported that the filters made their water taste like chemicals and the seller did not respond to their complaint. Meanwhile, another customer found it easy to install, with great quality at a great price. Other customers found no issues, and the filters were cheaper to buy than the branded supplier. Despite the concerns of an off-brand filter performance that does not filter well, the filters and membrane remained Consistent for some customers, and after flushing the system with the filters, the water was visibly clear and not foaming. Some reviewers had bits of charcoal in the water after installing filters, but it is unknown whether flushing the system was adequately done in these cases.
