Powermaster - Str Ultra Duty Chevy, GMC Diesel 1500,3500 6.2L, 6.5L 1982-'02 Black Wrinkle

The customer experience and reception of the Powermaster starter for the GM 6.5 diesel engine is predominantly positive, with many users highlighting significant improvements in starting performance compared to their stock starters. Customers frequently mention how the starter cranks the engine over much faster, resulting in easier starts and overall better engine responsiveness, which has been a game changer, especially for older models like the 1998 C3500 and 2000 GMC C3500HD. Installation appears to be straightforward, with many reviewers appreciating the accessibility of wiring connections that surpass the convenience of the stock setup. A user did caution other buyers to order a mounting brace separately, which suggests that while the product is effective, additional components may enhance its functionality. However, there are some concerns about the starter’s longevity. One user mentioned issues with grinding and damage to the flex plate after a period of use, although they still chose to repurchase the product based on its initial positive performance. Also, there was feedback regarding a labeling error on the starter that caused some confusion during installation, leading to sparks when connecting the battery. This hiccup affected the overall rating for at least one customer, who expressed concern over safety and clarity in the installation process. Overall, the Powermaster starter has been positively received for its performance boost and ease of installation, although potential users should be aware of the necessity for additional components and the few caveats related to installation and durability. **
