GlobalSat DG-500 Data Logger & Bluetooth GPS Receiver, Black
The GlobalSat DG-500 GPS data logger has been well received by customers as a reliable and accurate device with long battery life. It comes with an easily replaceable SD card for near-infinite storage, fast start-up time, and large button to record waypoints. There is no monthly fee to use the product and the logging time interval is between 1-5 seconds, though some customers have expressed a desire for longer time intervals. There's no temperature recording capability but it's easy to download the data to a PC and has many different files formats. The device supports Bluetooth but customers have had difficulty pairing with some phones. The bundled software is outdated, and the map layer is developer marked, but conversion from GPL to GPX formats is easy. Though some customers have had issues with the product recording FFFF.FFFF positions from DG-500's and the instructions advise keeping it at least 8 inches away from the body due to FCC radiation exposure limits. There are some who have logged complaints claiming that the device stopped working after only a few weeks of use, or had problems ejecting the device from their Mac. Those who found the software useful report that it is easy to use.
