The magnet made sure that the screws didn't get lost and stayed in place. However, some users were disappointed with the quality of the build and claimed that the screwdriver end stripped after a few uses, rendering it useless. and that it didn't work very well with their MacBook, while another reported that there were only three pieces when the product description promised four pieces.
